How to Clean and Care for Custom Printed Shirts
There is nothing worse than ordering beautiful custom apparel only to have the logo crack and fade after just a few weeks. Modern screen printing and DTG printing are incredibly durable, but they still require proper maintenance. Teaching your staff or your customers how to care for their garments will drastically extend the life of the shirt.
The Golden Rules of Washing
Heat and friction are the natural enemies of printed ink.
- Temperature Control: You must always wash custom shirts inside out on cold water. Turning the shirt inside out protects the ink from aggressively rubbing against zippers and heavy jeans in the washing machine.
- Drying Protocol: Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry to prevent the ink from cracking. High heat from a dryer will literally bake the ink, causing it to split and peel off the fabric.
The Raven32 Recommendation
If you are selling these shirts as retail merchandise, you must communicate these care instructions clearly. As your printing and promotional experts, we highly recommend including a custom-printed care tag inside the neck of the shirt. It provides washing instructions while instantly adding massive retail value to your brand. Contact us today to upgrade your apparel finishing.
